Inserting a graphic in Diagram View

You can add external graphics from a file or URL to your diagram, as a symbol or even within a note.

To insert a graphic from a file:

  1. Click the area where you want to insert the image.
  2. Select Insert Graphic from the Edit menu and choose From File….
  3. Locate the image file and select it. The image will now appear in your document.

To insert a graphic from a URL:

  1. Locate the image on the web that you want to use and copy its location. If you are having trouble copying the location of the graphic, see Copying graphic locations using various browsers below.
  2. Click the area where you want to insert the image.
  3. Choose Insert Graphic from the Edit menu and choose From URL….
  4. Right-click to paste the image’s location into the Insert Graphic From URL dialog box and click Fetch Graphic. The image will now appear in your document.

 

Copying graphic locations using various browsers:
The method for copying an image location is browser-dependent.

  • Apple® Safari®: Right-click on the image and select Copy Image Address.
  • Mozilla® Firefox®: Right-click on the image and select Copy Image Location.
  • Windows® Internet Explorer®: Right-click on the image and select Properties. Highlight the entire URL by clicking on it and dragging across and down. Right-click and select Copy.
